Kylesku Hotel, A Respite From The Elements

POur generous friends at Wavelength gave us a gift certificate to this fantastic hotel and restaurant for our wedding. Even prior to our departure from the States we would stare, mesmerized, at the photos of this majestic place while feeling a burning excitement for the upcoming journey brewing in our bellies. After days of strenuous biking and several nights of wild camping in northern Scotland, naturally we were counting down the miles until our arrival with sweet anticipation!

The hotel owners, Tanja and Sonia, gave us a friendly welcome. We had been in touch via email over the course of several months in attempts to coordinate our stay, and it was a treat to finally meet them and to subsequently learn about their inspiring story. They purchased the hotel 6 years ago, after making some giant life changes, and have found great satisfaction and happiness in their efforts. They even offered some help in hooking us up with potential entrepreneur opportunities in the area, should we want to make a go at it!

A delightful dinner! Almost all of the ingredients are local-sourced, or they don't come from far. The owners are very keen to support local and sustainable food suppliers, and they take pride in the high quality of their food and establishment. Their pride shows through in the experience they deliver to their guests.

And a most scrumptious breakfast- this picture doesn't even show the pancakes about to come!

And, poof!

Sorry to see a good meal come to an end:(  we felt very fortunate to have the opportunity to eat such wonderful food and stay at a beautiful place. When we're on the road for such a long time, these comforts are even more meaningful than they otherwise might be.

Thank you to all our friends at Wavelength for giving us this phenomenal gift!

Alas, the road beckons. And on the morning of the 24th we set off southward...
